Governor Kelly and Attorney General Kobach Condemn Attacks Against Israel
The following statement was released jointly by Governor Laura Kelly and Attorney General Kris Kobach on Monday, October 9, in response to the recent attacks against the Israeli people:
“Like all Kansans, we are sickened and angered by the images and accounts of Hamas terrorists attacking, killing, kidnapping, and brutalizing Israeli men, women, and children. We condemn these acts of terrorism and extend our deepest sympathies to the Israeli people. We want Kansans to know that their law enforcement, emergency management, and homeland security officials are closely watching the conflict and guarding against any potential threats to the safety of our Jewish communities.”
According to most recent reports as of this publishing more than 1,200 lives were lost in Hamas’ attack, including 25 Americans, and some 2,800 people are wounded. U.S. armaments have arrived in southern Israel, the first U.S. weapons to arrive in Israel. President Biden called the attack by Hamas the worst attack on Jews since the Holocaust.
