Secretary Schwab reveals new business filing changes in 2024

Kansas Secretary of State Scott Schwab has outlined new changes for business filings in 2024 in a YouTube video uploaded to his YouTube channel on Thursday.

In the one-minute video, Schwab informs viewers that there will be a “reduction” in filing requirements starting next year for the Kansas Secretary of States office.

“Starting January 1, 2024, Kansas businesses will file their information reports with the Kansas Secretary of States office every two years instead of every year as you did before with your annual report,” Schwab says in the video. “The content of the report will not change. Transitioning from this annual filing to biannual filing is intended to reduce paperwork for Kansas businessowners, allowing them to spend more time on running their businesses.”

Filing years for a business will be determined by the year in which the business was formed. Businesses formed on an even year will file on an even year. Businesses formed on an odd year will file on an odd year.
