'Transgender genocide' and the reality of trans people who "die by violence"

‘Transgender genocide’ or ‘trans genocide’ is one of the latest terms used by left-wing extremists to put fear into the hearts and minds of transgender people and their friends and families in order to get them to support a far-left agenda. Genocide, as defined in ‘The American Heritage College Dictionary (3rd edition)’ from 2000, is “the systematic and planned extermination of an entire national, racial, political, or ethnic group.” A 1958 version of ‘The Winston Dictionary for Schools’ defines genocide as, “the deliberate destruction of national, racial, or religious groups; mass murder.”

However, if you search ‘transgender genocide’ you get a Wikipedia article defining it as “a term used by some scholars and activists to describe an elevated level of systematic discrimination and violence against transgender people.” This is a little bit different than the “extermination of an entire” group, but the article justifies the definition with the United Nation’s 1948 Genocide Convention’s definition of ‘genocide.’ This goes onto reference another Wikipedia article that defines it as “any of five ‘acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group.’ These five acts were: killing members of the group, causing them serious bodily or mental harm, imposing living conditions intended to destroy the group, preventing births, and forcibly transferring children out of the group.”

I would like to point out under this definition trans activists are actively committing genocide against so-called transgender people as many of the treatments they want to provide for these people literally prevent births. Furthermore, these treatments do cause serious bodily harm and can even worsen their mental state.

Mainstream media, however, is also stoking the flames and going along with this narrative. On June 11, ABC News even came out with an article titled: ‘‘Genocidal’: Transgender people begin to flee states with anti-LGBTQ laws.’ I will speak up against laws that prevent adults from transitioning because they’re adults, they can do what they want. However, a lot of the laws they highlight focus on children, not all, but a lot.

The actual statistics of trans people “dying by violence”

Something the left constantly parrots is this idea that trans people are in danger. They make it seem like they are being hunted down for simply being trans, but the reality is it’s not true, and the statistics prove that.

Going back to 2020, we can see headlines like, ‘44 Trans Americans Violently Killed in 2020, the Deadliest Year Ever’ from Out. There were 44 lives lost, and that is truly sad regardless of whether they were trans or not. However, this title is also extremely misleading, and that’s a problem as most people are only going to read the title. The reality is there are a few things that need to be understood. First, “trans” does not actually mean “trans” in this context, because the article goes onto list three individuals that were either gender non-conforming or nonbinary. However, when you can help put fear in the hearts of trans people, you are going to want to up the number in anyway you can. That’s why “Americans” doesn’t mean “people living in the 50 states” it means “people living in the 50 states and Puerto Rico.” Puerto Rico really helps up the numbers, too having six transgender people die by violence, surpassing the number of victims in any one state. Louisiana and Florida were the most dangerous states for transgender people in 2020, each having four victims. We also need to understand that “Violently Killed” does not mean “murdered by transphobes,” as that would mean having a lower number, and that’s not what making trans people fear for their lives is about. In fact, there were at least six on the list who weren’t intended targets of transphobia and some other deaths were unclear. Finally, they give us a number, and not a percentage of trans people who died by violence, and that’s intentional. Saying, “44 trans Americans died by violence” sounds like a far more pressing issue than saying, “0.0023 percent of trans and gender non-conforming U.S. citizens died by violence that was probably, but definitely not always, due to transphobia.” I got the percent by dividing 38, the number of U.S. trans and gender non-conforming people who died by violence with a recent study that suggests there are about 1.64 million trans people in the U.S. that are 13 years or older.

Outside of the U.S. where transphobia is more of a problem and less lucrative of an activism gig, we actually see real oppression that American trans activists can, and will ignore. In 2020, there were 350 trans people who died by violence. Of those 350 trans people, 287 or 82 percent, were from South America, with the country of Brazil having 152 victims, making up 43 percent of global deaths. Mexico was the next most dangerous country for trans people with 57 trans people dying by violence.

In 2021, 57 Americans were listed as having died by violence, only one of which was in Puerto Rico. Again, every single life lost is tragic, however, we also need to understand that at least 16 of the deaths are not believed to be due to transphobia. In fact, one of them was working as a security guard at a mall and was saving lives by confronting a gunman and another died trying to break up an escalating fight. Those two cases should be looked at as trans people being heroes, not as victims like you would otherwise believe. Also, four were not trans, but rather nonbinary or gender non-conforming, again, just a way to up the amount of deaths. Remember, too, that’s only 0.0034 percent of trans and gender non-conforming people who died by violence in the U.S.

Also, looking at the world as a whole where it is less tolerant and less lucrative to be an advocate, 2021 saw 375 trans and gender non-conforming people die by violence with Central and South America being the places where 70 percent of these deaths occurred. Brazil having the most with 33 percent of deaths globally.

In 2022, we didn’t hear the usual rhetoric of “It’s the deadliest year ever for trans people,” and according to the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), that’s because there was a dramatic drop in deaths by violence, down to 34. However, they do reassure us that there is probably way more than that and that the data collection is just incomplete or not totally reliable, and that’s a fair argument. Nevertheless, the dramatic drop in deaths is a good thing, and it definitely didn’t stop the deplorable HRC from issuing their first ever “national emergency” this year due to “anti-LGBT” bills that do things like, protect minors from getting transitioned or protect women from having to compete against biological males.

Trans advocates have ran out of things to advocate for and so to stay in business they have to move goal posts and find ways to increase fear. Afterall, the reality in today’s America is minorities don’t actually need advocates, advocates need minorities to be afraid.
