U.S. Rep. Ron Estes provides message on Constitution Day
U.S. Rep. Ron Estes (R-KS District 4) released a message in honor of Constitution Day–the anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution, now 236 years ago.
“The Constitution, signed on September 17, 1787, is the founding document that guides our Republic, and provides us with our foundational structure of government,” Rep. Estes said. “More importantly, it specifically enshrines the power of We the People by limiting the role of the federal government and enacting the Bill of Rights–the first 10 Amendments to the Constitution.”
Rep. Estes also said that “our Founding Fathers understood what it was like to be under the rule of tyranny, and wanted to ensure that the United States of America would forever be considered the Land of the Free.”
He also said the wisdom of our Founding Fathers has allowed our country to endure more than two centuries before quoting President Ronald Reagan, who said, “Freedom is a fragile thing, and it’s never more than one generation from extinction.”
“Today, on Constitution Day, it’s critical that every American carries the banner of freedom as we celebrate this lasting document that has been the bedrock of our Republic, and is the longest surviving written charter of government in the world,” Rep. Estes concluded.
